The Prison Governors Association (PGA) welcomes the installation of 500 single cell units being placed into existing prisons. We need to move at pace with this initiative in order to delay and reduce the spread of Coronavirus in our prisons.
Overcrowding and double cell accommodation in a critical issue in prisons. This is a start, but much more needs to be done at speed in order to safeguard staff and prisoners during this epidemic in our prisons.
